The first two rounds of the 2021 National Youth Music Competition has been done and dusted. Over the past two days, the eight adjudicators listened to all 26 selected contestants.

A total of 116 works have been performed during these two rounds whereafter the 12 semi-finalists have been announced.

The twelve semi-finalists are: (In alphabetical order)

Eike Coetzee, 19, Viola
Alida Esterhuizen, 18, Piano
Leo Huan, 18, Piano
Gerhard Joubert, 19, Piano

Esihle Mthethwa, 16, Flute
Willem Naudé, 19, Cello
Liam Slabbert, 18, Bassoon
Daniël Spies, 15, Flute
Mike Wang, 14, Piano

These 12 are now competing over the next two days for the top six positions into the fourth and final round of the competition.
